Aromatic
Any organic compound containing de-localized electrons in a ring structure - e.g. benzene and benzoic acid. Aromatics have strong, characteristic odors. Aromatic compounds are able to penetrate the rubberlike materials that make up gaskets and seals. See also Aromatic compounds.
